Raccontare eventi passati

In inglese, ci sono diversi modi per parlare del passato. I principali sono il Past Simple e il Past Continuous. Il dialogo di oggi usa il Past Simple.

Il Past Simple si usa per parlare di azioni completate nel passato. Si forma in modo diverso per i verbi regolari e irregolari.

Verbi Regolari

Per formare il Past Simple dei verbi regolari, basta aggiungere -ed alla fine del verbo.

  • I walk (presente) → I walked (passato)
  • They talk (presente) → They talked (passato)

Verbi Irregolari

I verbi irregolari non seguono questa regola. Ogni verbo ha la sua forma al passato. È necessario impararli a memoria.

  • I go (presente) → I went (passato)
  • She sees (presente) → She saw (passato)

Forma Negativa

La forma negativa si costruisce con didn't (did not) + la forma base del verbo.

  • I didn't go
  • They didn't talk
  • He didn't see

Forma Interrogativa

La forma interrogativa si costruisce con Did + soggetto + forma base del verbo.

  • Did you go?
  • Did they talk?
  • Did he see?

Il Past Simple è un tempo verbale molto importante. Usalo per raccontare cosa hai fatto ieri, la settimana scorsa, l'anno scorso, ecc.

Examples

Example: I went to the park yesterday. (Sono andato al parco ieri.)

Example: Rachel lost her phone. (Rachel ha perso il suo telefono.)

Example: Did you see my phone? (Hai visto il mio telefono?)

Example: They didn't find the phone. (Non hanno trovato il telefono.)

Example: We were at the pub last night. (Eravamo al pub ieri sera.)
